Hello to all of you! I am so happy to have found this group!

My fiance and I are both very strong believers in God. While talking with him on the phone tonight he told me that I am the only woman he has ever known that actually "fits" Proverbs 31. As a woman who reads the Bible almost daily, but who is also asking for God's help in retaining and memorizing that I read, I could not quite place the verse and how it related to me. So, that led me to run a google search on it, which led me here. :)

All of that being said, I find myself a bit intimidated. While I do strive to make all of my days pleasing to God, I've never really given much thought to the details.

Am I the only one who find this verse intimidating to live up to?

God Bless,
~J. Lynn

Well, I am not sure if I find it intimidating to live up to, but I believe women of God do it without practice. You are truly blessed to have a man of God tell you he recognize that, so many women in Christ give little thought to that scripture and applying it to their lives.
Some are afraid of what people would think or they just haven't arrived yet. I thank you for sharing, sometimes I refer to this scripture just a reminder. I thank God for this website because it is proof of the word, women teaching other women. God Bless you J. Lynn

Thanks so much Praises for your reply...and you are right, true women of God do all of this without thinking...and perhaps I have been. It never really dawned on me what I was really doing so naturally until Marc pointed it out to me.

I've sung for many years, and recently have been using that gift that God gave me for His work. While I've always known that God gave me that gift, sharing it with others made me very insecure about it. This is kind of the same thing...I live my life to please God, but now that it's been pointed out to me, I'm afraid of failing. I've prayed about it and received the message to keep doing what I'm doing, He'll take care of the rest. I know He will.

My fiance is a wonderful man of God. We grew up together, and after 12 years of each of us trying to find our own ways, we individually let God do the work because we both knew that our ways weren't working. It was then that we found each other, and we both know it was God who brought us together. God really does amazing things, if we let Him!

God Bless,
~J. Lynn

Hi there J. Lynn, thanks for the email. I have the Proverbs Woman posted on my bedroom door. That's what God wants us to be. Intimidating??? Well, no one is perfect and God has CHOSEN YOU!!! So live up to it honey!! And when you feel you have not, ask God to forgive you and get on with it. Everyone has failings and everyone has successes too!!

Wish you every luck in being God's darling and by the way, we learn to love our fiancés better, when we relate as God's woman to him. Love from Belgium. Beverley

I find this verse more of a challenge than anything. It has given me much encouragement in my christian walk as a woman ardently seeking to live by God's standards. My prayer is that Ilive my life like the vituous woman so described in Proverbs 31, that I may be a blessing to everyone around me.

What better compliment could you get from a man? That's great. I wouldn't stress about living up to that standard, sounds like you are already doing a pretty good job of it. I think becoming that woman is a lifelong process and we shouldn't expect to be at that level overnight or even over the course of a few weeks. Really, the only way we can become like that woman is not by anything we can do ourselves but only by the power of Christ working in us and us being obedient and close to him. Trying to do it all ourselves is foolish and it leads us to run the risk of just "acting" out the role of the proverbs 31 woman without actually having the inner changes that are needed to do that stuff in Christ in a way that will last.

Hi Beverly,

Thanks so much for the encouragement!I am doing the best I can to live up to it. There are times though, just as you stated, that I don't feel I have it in me, that I feel drained and spent. I do pray, ask for help, and then forgiveness.

My fiance is a great man of God, and together we are asking for God's help in living the life He has designed for us, both as individuals and as a couple. I will admit though, that it is sometimes a challenge. I welcome the challenge because I know that is God's way of pushing me to grow as a Christian woman.

Again, thanks so much!

God Bless,
~ J. Lynn

Hi Kim,
Thanks so much for responding. You're right, it really is a wonderful compliment...and I am so honored that he feels that way about me. I guess before he said that to me I didn't realize I was actually doing it...I always felt like I was TRYING to do it, but not necessarily that I was getting anywhere. But, like you said, it is a process- a long one that won't be done until my time here on earth is over.

Absolutely! But what helps me with that is that 1. She was a sinner, just like me, and prevailed and 2. Her fear of the Lord was credited to her as righteousness. Without the Lord, we can never live up to His standards. It is through daily committing ourselves over to Him.

Is it intimidating? Yep, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!
