Starting anew

I have been a member of this site for quite awhile, but hardly come around. I'm going through a lot right now and decided it's time for a change...a drastic one. I am hoping that this site will be a sort of positive reinforcement in my life. My spirituality has always had issues b/c I come from an abusive childhood and the abuser (my father) is also a minister. I am trying to let go of all the negativity and become a better woman, mother, and wife.

Thank you for sharing this. It's because of your extreme faith that you can still reach out to God even though someone who preached the gospel(your dad) is one of the people who hurt you. Yes I believe that only He, Jesus Christ can take over and heal you when you need to be healed and comfort you when you need to be comforted! I suggest you feast on God's Word and pray for him to reveal Himself to you...I can only imagine how hard it is to understand how our REAL Father in heaven is when you have had an abusive or non existent father (like I did) but trust me, trust me, trust me... He can show us what a real father is if we just submit to HIM and His word! I 'll keep you in my prayers!

I bought myself a Bible called "Woman Thou Art Loosed" by T. D. Jakes and it helped me enormously, as did Joyce Meyer's books and also, a woman writer called Nancy Leigh De Moss.

Have a go at the Bible reading - there are pink pages in it with sermons which may just speak to you in your situation and it's written in a "woman's" style.

I know it seem's hard alot of times, but we must believe what the father say's he will never give us more than we can bear, I live in a abusive relationship myself, but it is hillarious to me, because I stand and believe every word that I retain from God so when thing's look bad I pull up a scripture and stand on it like I know that I will be persecuted in my own home the bible speaks of it and than i get happy I can laugh at my persecuters, they look at me like i'm crazy, but I call it peculiar! You are beginning on a true journey. I have learned through my own paths that forgiveness is the key. While you can't change your father, by allowing forgiveness in your heart God changes you. Spiritual abuse is so overwhelming. While I haven't witnessed it in my own life, God has allowed me to bear witness to those who have been physically and sexually abused by their fathers who were ministers. In my own life I was abused by my dad but God has healed me to help others. Stay open sister and should you ever need someone please reach out.
