For those days when your nipples are sore from breastfeeding Calendula can be beneficial. Calendula is wonderful for all types of skin irritations including sunburn, minor burns, acne, diaper rash and other rashes, cradle cap, ringworm, athlete’s foot, and thrush.

 To make a Calendula Ointment:
In a double boiler melt:
5 Ounces Coconut Oil
4 Ounces Beeswax
3 Ounces Powdered Calendula
Simmer gentle for about half an hour. Strain and pour into dark jars. You can add a few drops of tea tree oil before straining to retard mold. Store in a cool dark place for up to 3 months.

To make a Calendula Cream:
In an oven proof glass dish melt:
2 Ounces Beeswax
2 Cups of Olive Oil
4 Ounces Dried Calendula
Cover and place in a warm oven for at least three hours. Strain and pour into dark jars. You can add a few drops of tea tree oil before straining to retard mold. Store in a cool dark place for up to 3 months.

 To make a Calendula Infused Oil:
In a double boiler over boiling water combine:
9 Ounces Dried Clendula
3 Cups Olive Oil
Cover and simmer gently for 2 or 3 hours. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Strain through cheese cloth, squeezing the oil out. Pour into dark glass bottles. Store in a cool dark place for up to a year. Best if used within 6 months.
