God can use anything

I lay in bed this morning, feeling very tired, very drained. I didn't feel at all refreshed after all those hours of sleep. As someone who has not looked after her health over the years, my body has become run down. I can almost hear my bones crying out 'please, please, won't you eat more healthily, for our sakes? We're feeling the strain here'! I lay there, staring up at the ceiling. I turned to the left. I turned to the right. My eyelids kept closing. I longed for another round of sleep. Oh, I didn't want to get up. I just wanted to rest. But even though I knew I wasn't feeling 100% so therefore had a very legitimate reason for staying in bed all warm and cosy, I felt a little guilty. I knew I needed to talk to the Lord. I knew I needed to read the word and have my quiet time. And there were other things that needed doing around the house. I began to speak to God, thanking Him for waking me. I thought of a word to describe Him that begins with the same letter as today - Sunday. I thought of Savior, and began thanking Him because He is my Savior. After a few minutes, I started to reason with myself. And quite quickly, I made up my mind to go back to sleep. I rolled over, and got comfy. I mean, what harm could another hour or so in bed do? After all, I DID need the rest, I reasoned. I sat up to quickly adjust the bedclothes, then I lay back down on my pillow, looking forward to a relaxing kip. My eyes stared upwards as my head hit the pillow. And guess what? No sooner had my head hit the pillow - I saw my worse enemy; a spider on the ceiling! Yes, just hanging there on the ceiling, menacingly, right above my head! Arrrg!!!! Well, all I can say is, I jumped out of that bed faster than a flea out of a cannonball! I couldn't have gotten out of there fast enough! Yes, God really does work in mysterious ways.
